In the past few years, around this time of year..., yes, I remembered, it's now my ritual.
Summer time was in full speed where there was about 100 plus degrees outside.
It reminded me of 'An Interview with a Content Single Woman
I felt, I had to see her and interview her again... I wanted to know how she turned out or how her life leaded
her to in the past year.
The first year, that interview, we talked about almost everything in her life... all 40's something years...
The second year, it's about her friendship and relationship in general. She appeared, to be 'alone-r'...
However, she always confirms that she does not give up on finding 'the love of her life' (if any is out there!)
Of course, and she is 'not looking'!
I went to her place, a modest home away from the Strips, for an interview this time. Saying, 'It's me!',
that she was more of the 'indoor' type when it comes to extremely hot weather.
Q: Hello... WOW!
SOSO: Hello! Welcome to my 'Little
Corner of the World'...
We gave each other a long hug... while 2 of her frisky pups were jumping for attention.
Q: How are you doing?
SOSO: I am doing fine, thank you. And you?
Q: I am great!, and glad you let me do this (interview) again.
SOSO : It seemed to be a 'must' and I would feel left out if you didn't.
Q: This house is neat! Different, but neat.
SOSO: Neat? in the real 'neat' sense or an expression for 'weird' or 'out
of this world' kind of 'neat'?
Q: I have to say, 'I like it!', 'I like it a lot!'. It's so YOU. I can
imagine you in this habitat!
SOSO: Ha-ha! My swamp!
Q: Now, I understand why you mentioned and referred your house as 'My
little Corner of the World' and 'My sanctuary'.
SOSO: I like it the way I made (decorated) it. I live alone (3 dogs and
2 cats). It feel warm and cozy this way.
Q: I absolutely agreed with you. Will you show me around before we sit
down, so I have more idea what I will ask you this year?
SOSO: It won't take much of your time to tour the house. This house is
not a spectacular or superb or million dollar house. It's just a good size for me. My family and friends can stay when they
want to come here to visit me or visit the 'ka-chings'. I can afford it without having too much dept. And I don't have to
work to death for it.
Q: Yes, I remember you said you're semi-retired. That's nice, isn't
it?
SOSO: Anytime, I have less work days than my days off is a good thing.
I am lucky and it has a lot to do with whom I have grown with and my own selections of what I chose to do with my life.
Q: Wow, this (corner) is neat!
SOSO: OK..., on your right or left, depend on which way you face the room,
my little 'music corner' you saw in the pics I gave you the first time we talked.
Q: You put up some new things up, frames? And they are real paintings!
SOSO: Yes, I did. I found the paints and felt they were perfect for the
corner. Strange paintings, aren't they? But hey, it's me and I like what I did with them.
Q: You are you! I can tell that much. I can't tell this house belongs
to a Thai, if I don't know your background.
SOSO: I am Thai and nothing will change who I am or what I am. I don't
think I have to decorate my house with Thai stuffs to make me Thai.
Q: You have TWO acoustic guitars, a mandolin, a harmonica (on the neck
_collar holder), 2 keyboards (not the one attached to the computer), a violin, drumsticks... etc. Do you know how to play
all of them?
SOSO: I play one thing at a time. I can play 2 things at one time on occasion
(laughing...)... You don't believe me, do you?
Q: Just amazing... How, when and why would you want to learn to do those
things?
SOSO: My father does 3 instrument at a time... and I have a videotape to
prove it! For me, just, I had nothing else better to do at time, I guess. And I wanted to see if I could do it if other musicians
could...
Q: Yes, I saw some folk song band-mates do those. By the way, why is
that about you having no couch in your house?
SOSO: That (point at her little black and white Shih Tzu) is the one to
be blamed! 'Gilligan', he's the only one who is not neutered. You know, he does his 'tinkering' in the house, mostly at the
furniture corners.
Q: You haven't house trained him?
SOSO: Oh yes, I did. When he was a puppy, he was in his best behaviors.
I couldn't help it when he grew and he did his things. Punishing him won't do any good. So, I just let it be... Cleaning up
after him is one of my daily life. I take it just like you can't give the baby away because he spilt milk on the carpet.
